Short answers before you open the full guide
The Austin-Bergstrom to Downtown guide is long because the choice after landing depends on bags, timing and who is meeting you. If you only have a minute, these are the points travelers ask about most.
- Every commercial airline at AUS now uses the Barbara Jordan Terminal. The South Terminal closed on April 1, 2026, so there is no separate South Terminal curb to plan around.
- App rides, taxis and rental cars all start from the Consolidated Rental Car Facility behind the Red Garage. A reserved chauffeur uses the meeting point named in the assigned-operator confirmation instead.
- CapMetro Route 20 runs by day toward Downtown and UT from the lower level outside baggage claim. Route 483 Night Owl is currently listed after midnight. Check the timetable the day you fly.
- Downtown is about eight miles northwest of the airport. The in-vehicle time is often 15 to 25 minutes, but deplaning, baggage and the walk to pickup come first.
- "Downtown" is not an address. Give the hotel name and the exact door, since festival closures on Sixth Street and Red River can move the legal loading point.
How these guides are written
Each guide sets a reserved car next to the options a traveler would weigh anyway: app rides, taxis, CapMetro and rental cars. The comparison covers luggage, the pickup walk, late arrivals and parking, because those are the details that decide the trip, not the headline fare.
Airport procedures, bus routes and fares are taken from the airport and CapMetro pages cited under each section, and the guide says "currently" where a schedule can change. Where this site has no reliable number, such as taxi meters or rental-brand prices, the guide says so instead of guessing.
Our own prices appear only as the published rate card. Hourly estimates start at $120 for a sedan and $150 for an SUV, with a three-hour minimum. The point-to-point floors of $130 and $160 are floors, not airport fares. Airport transfers are always an itinerary quote.
Where to go next
For the pickup itself, the Austin-Bergstrom airport page covers meeting points, flight monitoring and drive times to each neighborhood. The routes page lists the typical in-vehicle window from AUS to Downtown, The Domain, Westlake Hills, Round Rock and the other areas we serve. If you are arriving at San Antonio International or Killeen Regional instead, each has its own airport page with the corridor into Austin and the honest limits of service there.
